State-Level Competitive Event Information
Student attendees can register to participate in one of the state-level competitive events listed below. These events are NOT preliminary events for the State Leadership Conference. Top placing Competitors will be recognized during the Closing & Recognition Session for the respective Fall Leadership Meeting location, with the exception of the T-Shirt Design and Trading Pin Design events.
Students must be affiliated or pending members to be eligible to compete.

Fall Leadership Meeting State-Level Event Opportunities:
- T-Shirt Design - An individual event. Members will submit a t-shirt design that highlights North Carolina, FCCLA, and the National Leadership Conference in Denver, CO. Designs will be presented to delegates at each of the Fall Leadership Meeting locations. Delegates at each location will get to vote for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place designs. Top design winners will be released via social media, website, and email announcements. The selected design may be made into the National Leadership Conference t-shirt that is included in the NC NLC Delegate Package.
- Trading Pin Design - An individual event. Members will submit a lapel pin design that highlights North Carolina. Designs will be presented to delegates at each of the Fall Leadership Meeting locations. Delegates at each location will get to vote for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place designs. Top designs and winners will be released via social media, website, and email announcements. The selected design may be made into trading pins that members can use to trade with other states at the National Leadership Conference in Denver, CO.
- Chapter Website - An individual or team event. Members will submit their chapter website which is used to educate, inform, and involve members and the general public about the importance of the Family and Consumer Sciences program and the FCCLA chapter. (Upon completion of this event, members may choose to enhance their website and compete in the FCCLA Online STAR Event - Chapter Website.)
- Chapter Social Media - An individual or team event. Members will submit their chapter on Instagram or Facebook that is used to educate, inform and involve members and the general public about the importance of the Family and Consumer Sciences program and the FCCLA Chapter.
- Chapter Budget - An individual or team event. Members will present a well-balanced chapter budget that reflects anticipated income and expenses for the year. (Upon completion of this event, members may choose to include this as part of the Chapter in Review Display or Portfolio event.)
- Chapter Event Management - An individual or team event. Members will present an event plan for an event that the chapter has hosted, or will be hosting. The plan will include an event proposal, goal, objective(s), evaluation criteria, dates, background research, and a planning and implementation timeline. (Upon completion of this event, members may choose to use their work as part of the FCCLA Event Management STAR Event.)
- Chapter Membership Madness - An individual or team event. Members will present the FCCLA Planning Process used to plan and implement a membership campaign to recruit new member. Membership campaigns must be from the current school year. (Upon completion of this event, members may choose to include this as part of the Chapter in Review Display or Portfolio event.)
- FCCLA/FCS Knowledge Trivia - A team event. Members will display their FCCLA and FCS knowledge in this trivia style event. Questions will be created using the FCCLA Career Pathways and general FCCLA information found on the National FCCLA website (www.fcclainc.org)
