2022 NC Jr. Chef Competition will be virtual!
Get ready for the fifth (5th) statewide and second (2nd) virtual NC Jr. Chef Competition! High school students enrolled in NC Career and Technical Education Culinary Arts and Hospitality, Food and Nutrition, or Food Science and Technology courses are encouraged to work with their Family and Consumer Sciences teacher and local School Nutrition Program to create a school lunch entrée recipe that adheres to National School Lunch Program regulations, features at leas two (2) North Carolina grown ingredients and one (1) USDA Foods item, and meets the student taste preferences.

Intent to Compete forms are due December 15. Applications with recipes, recipe photos, cost and nutrient analysis and permission forms are due January 26. Based on a review of applications and recipes received, up to eight (8) finalist teams will be selected for the virtual cook-off. For the virtual cook-off, teams will submit final applications with recipes, recipe photos, cost and nutrient analysis along with a video of the teams preparing and plating their recipe and a time management plan for finishing the dish within the 90-minute time limit by March 2. Teams will participate in live virtual interviews March 22 or 23. All finalist teams will be recognized and the competition results announced during the NC FCCLA State Leadership Conference Closing & Recognition Session on March 30, and a virtual ceremony on March 31. Student member of the top three (3) teams will win scholarships to attend Sullivan University. The first-place team will advance to the Southeast Jr. Chef Competition for a chance to win a full scholarship. Deadlines

December 15, 2021 (by 6:00 pm ET)
Complete the online Intent to Compete Form. Note: The Intent to Compete Form does not obligate a team to submit the competition application form.
January 26, 2022 (by 6:00 pm ET)
Submit the NC Jr. Chef Competition Application,  to include team information, recipe ingredients and instructions, nutrient analysis, and cost analysis, Recipe Photo, and Signed NCJCC Permission and Release Forms to the Submission Form. Teams must also be affiliated with FCCLA, with affiliation invoices paid.

February 9, 2022
Top eight (8) finalists are selected to compete in the virtual cook-off phase of the competition. Teams will be notified regarding finalist selections.
February 23, 2022​
Finalist teams must be registered for the NC FCCLA State Leadership Conference with team members registered for the "NC Jr. Chef - Top 8" STAR Event. Registration will be in the FCCLA Portal. You can find more information on how to register here.
March 2, 2022 (by 6:00 pm ET)
Finalist teams will submit their final application with recipe, recipe photo, time management plan and an unedited recipe preparation video. Final materials can be submitted here - ​https://forms.gle/UcVx7dHCQ2M3UiSb6
March 22 or 23, 2022
Teams will be scheduled for a brief virtual live interview with a panel of judges.
March 30, 2022
Finalist teams will be recognized and the 2022 NCJCC results will be announced during the Closing & Recognition Session at the NC FCCLA State Leadership Conference.
March 31, 2022
A virtual ceremony will be held to recognize all finalist teams and announce the results. Competition results will be officially announced via a press release an on social media.
