COMPETE

STATE-LEVEL EVENTS
State-Level Competitive Events are offered to provide members the opportunity to gain experience with Competitive Events without the time commitment as required by STAR Events. State-Level Competitive Events are offered at both fall and spring conferences. Fall events are offered at each of the four (4) Fall Leadership Meeting locations. Spring events are offered at the State Leadership Conference. Click here for specific dates and deadlines for these events.
Please note: State-level competitions are for experience and recognition but do not lead to NLC qualification.
STATE-LEVEL KNOWLEDGE EVENTS

These events allow participants to demonstrate their college- and career-readiness skills in FCS and related occupations. These events serve as an introduction to other Competitive Event opportunities and require a shorter time commitment than STAR Events.
In 2026, the following State-Level Knowledge Events will be offered:
  • Human Services Knowledge Test
  • Education and Training Knowledge Test
  • Hospitality and Tourism Knowledge Test
  • Visual Arts and Design Knowledge Test

EVENT AT-A-GLANCE
  • Participants will complete the knowledge test. Please see the event agenda for competition dates and times.
  • Participants will have 20 minutes to answer as many multiple choice questions as possible. Question content will be related to the specific FCCLA Career Pathway indicated in the test title. A study guide will not be provided.
