All members have leadership potential, whether or not they hold formal chapter or state leadership positions. It often comes down to exploring abilities, taking risks, and developing a personal leadership style. Different kinds of leaders are needed for different experiences.

- Participate in the Leadership STAR Event, or other Competitive Events.
- Complete the Power of One National Program each year.
- Lead the chapter in implementing a service project aligned with a National Program.
- Participate in the FranklinCovey FCCLA Leadership Academy.
- Serve as a leader at the chapter level.
- Run for election to be a State Officer.
- Lead youth sessions at state and national conferences, if opportunities are available.
- Evaluate state and/or national Competitive Events.
- Volunteer to review and evaluate National Program Award Application submissions.
- Attend FCCLA Webinars.
