CULINARY COMPETITION | ONLINE PRELIMINARY TESTING

ONLINE PRELIMINARY TESTING INFORMATION

All participants registered to compete in the Baking and Pastry and Culinary Arts STAR Events, held at the Culinary Competition, will be required to participate in the Online Preliminary Testing. 

The preliminary test will consist of a multiple-choice online test during the posted testing window before the Culinary Competition. The multiple-choice test will be created using test bank questions from The Culinary Professional textbook by Goodheart-Wilcox Publisher. A

If the event registration exceeds the facility capacity, finalists will be selected based on preliminary testing to compete in person. If the event registration does not exceed the facility capacity, all registered participants will compete in person. Information regarding final in person competition participation will be emailed to registered participants and advisers following the Culinary Competition registration deadline, January 31. 

TESTING WINDOW - January 1, 2024 - February 2, 2024

Finalist selections will be announced by February 9, 2024.

Advisers will receive the testing link and detailed instructions in the Culinary Competition registration confirmation email. Advisers will be responsible for ensuring that testing policies are followed and that competitors have completed the test before the close of the testing window.

TESTING TOPICS

The exam will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions. 
  • 50 Questions - Culinary and/or Baking & Pastry Arts Fundamentals (The specific fundamentals will be specific to the event registered for.)
  • 30 Questions - Safety and Sanitation
  • 10 Questions - Food Service Concepts
  • 10 Questions - Culinary Nutrition

Participants will have 120 minutes to complete the test. 

A study guide or study materials will not be provided.
